Why we built Scribe
Every meeting ends the same way: someone scrambles to summarize what happened, action items get lost, and two weeks later nobody remembers what was decided. We built Scribe to fix that.
The Idea
Scribe captures audio in real-time, transcribes it with Deepgram's Nova-3 model, and generates structured notes with summaries, key decisions, and action items. It is not another transcription tool — it is an intelligent note-taking system that understands context.
How It Works
- Capture — Scribe joins your meeting or records locally. It handles speaker diarization automatically.
- Process — The raw transcript goes through a multi-pass pipeline: clean up filler words, identify topics, extract action items.
- Organize — Notes are structured into sections with timestamps, speaker labels, and highlighted decisions.
- Share — One-click export to Notion, Confluence, or plain markdown.
Why Open Source It
We are planning to open source Scribe because we think the building blocks — real-time transcription, summarization, action extraction — should be available to everyone. The value is not in the plumbing, it is in the workflow integrations built on top.
Current Status
Scribe is in internal testing. We are using it for every meeting at Deepgram Labs and iterating based on our own pain points. Open source release is planned for Q2 2026.
